The Week That Was!

Here at OMG we have all the news and announcements from the past week in one spot. Gamescom has wrapped but we have plenty of game presentations and trailers from the event including gameplay demonstrations of Far Cry 6 and Marvel’s Midnight Suns. PlayStation are hosting a PS5 conference this upcoming Friday and also announced their PlayStation Plus Games for September. We have 3 reviews with Greak: Memories of Azur, Horror Tales: The Wine and Darker Skies. To finish off we have 37 0f this weeks newest trailers including Nintendo’s Download event, Elden Ring gameplay, Ghost of Tsushima Legends, NBA 22K, FIFA 22, Rustler and lots more. PlayStation Showcase

This week, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced a upcoming PlayStation Showcase will be held on Friday, 10 September at 6:00 AM AEST. In addition to this news, players can now pre-order Horizon Forbidden West ahead of its launch on Friday, 18 February 2022.

PlayStation Plus September Lineup

The PlayStation Plus September Games lineup is here! From Tuesday, 7 September, players can play as one of sci-fi’s most enduring icons in Predator: Hunting Grounds, whip up culinary delights in Overcooked: All You Can Eat! or find inventive ways to take down the opponent in Hitman 2.

PlayStation Plus September Lineup

Far Cry 6

Overnight a number of media outlets have had a chance to have a look at the gameplay of the upcoming Far Cry 6.

Below is Series X gameplay recorded by IGN.

“Far Cry 6 Narrative Director Navid Khavari joins Ubisoft News to check out some explosive guerrilla action on Xbox Series X. See Chorizo the wiener dog, Guapo the crocodile, and Chicharrón the rooster use their unique talents to help the revolution in adorable and violent ways. This gameplay showcase takes place in the El Este Region and features combat with the improvised Resolver weapons and powerful Supremo backpacks, with a look at weapon customization and plenty of brutal machete takedowns.”

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary, join the official THQ Nordic digital showcase event on September 18th at 5am AEST.

It will be streamed on the Official THQ Nordic Channels YouTube, Twitch, and Steam.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns Gameplay

Today Marvel and 2K have given gamers their first look at the gameplay of the upcoming Marvel’s Midnight Suns in preparation for its launch in March 2022. The game will thrust players into a new tactical RPG set in the darker side of the Marvel Universe, putting players up against the demonic forces of the underworld as you team up with and live among the Midnight Suns.

Xbox Game Pass – September Additions

Xbox have announced the next round of additions to its Game Pass offerings and subscribers will see a bit of everything to kick the month off. Subscribers can jump into the scrubs of a surgeon, a post-apocalyptic world, the life of a guitar prodigy and a whole heap more.

Battlefield 2042 Open Beta

The Battlefield 2042 Open Beta has been listed on the Xbox store.

The description states:

Surely the links appearance means the beta is close. Only time will tell though.

After its initial announcement at Gamescom, Deep Silver and Volition have given gamers their next look into the world of the next game in the Saints Row series. The latest video takes gamers on a deep dive into Santo Ileso, the setting for the upcoming game, in preparation for its launch on the 25th February 2022.

Xbox Announced as Official Gaming Partner of the England Football Teams

Here’s a new partnership that I bet you didn’t expect today.

Xbox has overnight been announced as the official gaming partner of the English national football (soccer) teams.

New Metroid Dread Trailer Shows New Gameplay and Enemies

The latest trailer for Metroid Dread offers a tantalising glimpse at some of the mysterious, powerful enemies that the game has in store, along with a showcase of some of the abilities and weapons that Samus will have at her disposal. Players will be able to explore the planet ZDR and discover the truth of the story for themselves when Metroid Dread launches for Nintendo Switch on 8^th October.

Crysis Remastered Trilogy

It’s always an exciting time when there is a month to go for a game to drop and the developers drop some major news that only serves to get players even more excited. Today Crytek announced that “the Crysis Remastered Trilogy, a great value all-in-one bundle featuring the remasters of the iconic single-player campaigns from Crysis, Crysis 2, and Crysis 3, will launch on Xbox and PlayStation platforms on 15^th October. Additionally, twenty art cards randomly inserted into day one orders for each format will be numbered and autographed by members of the development team.”

Release Date for The King of Fighters XV

The King of Fighters XV has received its official launch date at Gamescom this week where Koch Media and SNK CORPORATION announced that the game will make its way to the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series S/X, Steam and the Epic Games Store on the 17th February 2022.

Review – Greak: Memories of Azur

Greak: Memories of Azur is a brand-new side-scrolling platform adventure and the debut title from developers Navegante Entertainment. The game takes the players on a 6-to-8-hour adventure as they take on the role of three siblings whose aim is defeating those who have invaded Azur in hopes of escape through the construction of an airship.

Review – Horror Tales: The Wine

The tale of a special red wine created by the Banydebosc family, said to possess the power to cure the Devil’s Fever, leads protagonist Marti on a mission to find it to save his family from said ailment in Horror Tales: The Wine.

Navigating an abandoned city, largely in ruins, leads the player on a first-person horror experience that twists reality and provides company in the form of a headless apparition that stalks the player at regular intervals. Unable to fight back, the player must run, solve puzzles, and find the wine in the reality-bending horror tale.

Review – Darker Skies

Darker Skies is the follow up to Grey Skies: A War of the Worlds Story from developer Steel Arts Software. Inspired by the infamous works and stories of H.G. Wells, Darker Skies tells the tale of Jack, a survivor of the War of the Worlds, on his mission to collect the parts he needs to construct a heat ray, blast his way to freedom and hopefully find the means to restore civilisation.

The third-person survival-horror experience will take players through six locations collecting the components for the heat ray from the wreckage of the gigantic alien Tripod machines. Using stealth, crafting throwables and shooting through the remnants of the forever broken world, Darker Skies provides atmospheric tension at every moment but ultimately succumbs to an invasion of technical and design issues that even the Martians can’t overcome.

Xbox One Games of a Generation: Stage 2 Best of 2020

We want to know what you think is the best Xbox One game of this generation.

We have a 14 amazing titles make it through Stage 2 Best of 2020. Gears 5 easily took out top spot just a vote over Mortal Kombat 11 and A Plague Tale: Innocence. Wrapping up the top 5 was Resident Evil 2 Remake and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Next up was Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. We had 7 titles all draw that final three spots, Control, Metro Exodus, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, RAGE 2, Borderlands 3, Far Cry New Dawn and The Outer Worlds.

2020 saw the release of the Series X|S and one of the last big years for the Xbox One. From Stage 1 we have 40 massive titles, so with that number each voter gets up to 8 votes and at least 8 titles will go through to Stage 3.
