Werewolf: The Apocolypse – Heart of the Forest – PC – Q4 2020

The 7th developer diary below gives you a look behind the scenes at the developers history with the World of Darkness, their vision for the Werewolf game and the challenges of developing a pen-and-paper RPG into a video game.

“Heart of the Forest is a narrative adventure game based on the legendary role-playing game Werewolf: The Apocalypse. You play as Maia, a young woman looking to uncover her family’s history. In the pursuit of past mysteries, she arrives at the Białowieża Forest, an ancient wilderness full of ancient and dangerous secrets.

The game’s mechanics are based around three main resources: Rage, Willpower, and Personality. They determine the choices available to Maia and influence the overall presentation of every scene.

The game is set in one of the last primeval forests of Europe – the Bialowieza Forest. It is a vast area located in Poland, Europe, full of myths and legends which players will also find in the game. The first people settled here 1,500 years ago, but their presence remained relatively limited until they eventually vanished. The mix of nature and mystery makes the Bialowieza Forest a perfect setting for a World of Darkness story.

Just like the original Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Heart of the Forest has many themes. These vary from mythological to inspired by its real-world setting, e.g. where should our interference in nature end? Aren’t we morally bound to interfere? How far would you go for a good cause?”

Also don’t forget about the Vampires, Wraiths and Werewolves EGX panel on the 15th September over at the EGX Twitch discussing Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest, Vampire: The Masquerade – Shadows of New York and Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife.

TrickShot

“”TrickShot” is a fast-paced, skate trick multiplayer shooter where players dodge bullets and take out opponents as they skate ramps, grind, parkour, complete tricks and kills for the most points to win. Play in teams as you face-off thru the aerial verticality of skatepark arenas using Hoverskates or Hoverboards.”

Republic of Jungle

Do you enjoy the Jackbox Collection? Well this game could be for you.

“In Republic of Jungle, you and your friends play as the staff of the Bite House, a parody version of the
White House in an alternate world where the animal kingdom has formed a superpower country and
President Puma is the sitting president of the Republic. He is under pressure by the media and the
frequent leaks and scandals. Players are divided into two teams: Leakers try to undermine the president
by leaking information, while Loyalists try to save him by identifying the leakers and excluding them.”

The game features:

  • “Accommodates 5 – 10 players.
  • Play using your phone or smart device (like Jackbox Games).
  • Play anywhere. In a physical room. In online chat rooms. On the streams.
  • Convenient setup. No moderators. No eye-closing. No reaching across the table.
  • Unique “social deduction” mechanics unlike in any other games in the genre, because each player has a private screen for secret information and actions.
  • Smooth gameplay and guided experience for players of all skill levels.”

Keep an eye out for this one on our streams.

Blind Fate: Edo no Yami – PC – Coming Soon

Here’s some more from the Developers:

Players will take on the role of a blind cyber samurai Yami, hero of the dystopian Japan in the New Edo period. In this cruel world they may trust only in their sharp katana and the powerful hand cannon, a deadly combination of weapons that can be used to overcome any obstacle, living or otherwise.

Blinded and deprived of his humanity, Yami is unquestioningly loyal to the Shogun and lives to vanquish his suzerain’s enemies until one day he might discover an unexpected truth that lies beyond the confines of the visible realm.”

The Darkest Tales – PC – Coming Soon

“The Darkest Tales chronicles the gloomy and sinister adventures of a stuffed bear named Teddy on a quest to rescue his owner Alicia from the realm of grisly dreams and distorted fantasies. The Darkest Tales will take you to the far side of “happily ever after”! Learn about the Little Red Riding Hood’s new dietary habits, witness what Pinocchio grew up to be… Lend a hand to an armed-to-the-teeth teddy bear on an important mission? He can’t stitch it all up without you!”

Some more from the Developer:

The Darkest Tales is a hardcore and exciting adventure full of familiar characters and noir landscapes. Transported to the far side of “happily ever after,” players will learn about the Little Red Riding Hood’s revised dietary habits, or finally witness the kind of monster Pinocchio grew up to be. And while they are at it, why not lend a hand to an armed-to-the-teeth teddy bear on an important mission? He can’t quite stitch it all up by himself!

Every level takes place in a twisted version of an easily recognizable fairy tale rife with combat, obstacles, and secrets. Sure you can select a difficulty level most suited for comfortable play… But why not go all out and conquer the horrors that await the bravest of daredevils in max difficulty mode! After all, what’s life without a little challenge, right..?”

Frequency: Chernobyl – PC – Coming Soon

Some information from the Developer about the game:

Frequency: Chernobyl is a mystical puzzle adventure in which the player takes on the role of an amateur radio enthusiast Val who has dedicated his life to unraveling the secrets of the “number stations.” The investigation leads him deep into the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, where he will have to face off against a bizarre temporal anomaly when an elusive radio signal turns out to carry the voices of people from the distant year of 1986.

To accurately recreate the terrain of Pripyat, the crumbling equipment, outdated radio codes and their principles of operation the developers have visited the area that serves as the background to the game’s story and largely relied on archive materials as well as renowned specialists’ expertise.

The story follows Val who has just decrypted a mysterious transmission with his friends, believing it to be the long sought after Chaos signal. Following the coordinates they have thus acquired, the protagonist makes his way to one of the most mysterious locations in the world — the abandoned “Duga” radio station. Upon activating an old console, he begins to hear voices and messages from the Soviet past. But what are they trying to tell him?

Encrypted radio broadcasts will be the main type of in-game puzzles that the player must unravel in order to make progress. Luckily, our hero has come prepared and can rely on his friends to give him clues, but reaching the end will require the player to strain both their thoughts and their ears as the game uses nearly two dozen types of encryption methods!”

Strings Theory – Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC – Spring 2020

““String Theory – physical string theory describes the world as vibrating miniature energy strings in a 10-dimensional space.” The same physical string theory is a pretext for us to create a logic game with a broadly expanded story in which we place great pressure on the individual character of the protagonists.”
