Demon’s Souls – PS5

Demon’s Souls is a game that tests the most patient of gamers and stays true to its origin. The world and the characters in it, though harrowing, are very beautiful to look at and completing the many challenging, but fair tasks in Demon’s Souls is a very rewarding feeling. Ghost of Tsushima – PS4

Overall Ghost of Tsushima is a masterstroke of art, gameplay and open world exploration. This is a game to be savoured like a fine wine aged to perfection. Do not rush through this, as there is so much to see on this island of Tsushima. The story is perfectly placed and toned throughout as the Samurai who becomes a hero of the island and like Jin, this game is a legend. Sucker Punch should be extremely proud of this PS4 exclusive. Hades – Nintendo Switch

Hades is a highly addictive title that will have players constantly doing ‘just one more run’. The combat, story, weapon and Boon system are well done and to the point that the escape experiences are never the same twice. It makes time fly by with each run and to the point where two and three o’clock in the morning happened to me often. Hades has impressive different enemy and boss types, which keeps battles fresh. It requires great strategy and sometimes a bit of luck to make it to the far reaches of the final boss. The joy and reward of that first successful escape attempt is so satisfying and makes the 20 to 30 hours played getting there well worth it. Well-done Supergiant games on this masterpiece! Mafia: Definitive Edition – PS4 and Xbox One

Mafia: Definitive Edition is a truly visually stunning story that keeps the player’s focus at all times. With simple gameplay, phenomenal story and a great cast of characters set in a fictional setting with real-world themes, this title has come a long way since its original 2002 release. Maneater – PS4|5, Xbox One and Series X|S

Tripwire Interactive have created a world that is fun to explore and full of both predators and prey to rip apart that ultimately leans towards repetitive and lacking in variety as the game pushes on. The simplified gameplay featuring single button prompts is easy and accessible to become familiar with, but unfortunately as the shark grows and becomes more powerful, the threat and challenge of the game diminishes which puts the player in a position of power that is not likely to be overcome. The joy and satisfaction of mindlessly wreaking havoc on innocent swimmers is one that holds on through until the end and at the reasonable launch price of $59.95, Maneater is worth sinking your teeth into. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – PS4|5

Miles Morales is a bright, charismatic A-grade student, who is not only able to step into the shoes of Spider-Man but does it so well that Insomniac have reflected that into this stellar game. Miles and his support characters create a memorable story in a beautiful backdrop. The action and activities will keep players webbed to their screen until credits role, it is just a pity that its shorter run time will keep players wishing it had a longer narrative in Miles’ first independent outing as the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the definition of a sequel that succeeds, taking a formula that worked and expanding it in a way that enhances the overall experience. The execution of the new gameplay mechanics is seamlessly integrated via simple tutorials that don’t restrict the accessibility. The Last of Us Part 2 – PS4

The world that has been established is in a league of its own, brought to life by characters and performances that are phenomenal, engaging and genuinely interesting.
