OMG Game of the Year 2021 – Best Game, Most Anticipated and Worst Game
Best Game of the Year
This is OMG best Games of the Year.
Winner – Forza Horizon 5
Forza Horizon 5 is a racing game lover’s dream, with beautiful cars, improved graphics, sounds and customisation options surrounded by the beauty that is Mexico means that this keep up PlayGround games high standards and is arguably the best Forza Horizon games. There is so much on offer and available for players to choose from that it means hours can just go by as players dive into the largest map in the franchise’s history, there are no shortage of roads to drive on and sights to see as players explore Mexico. Forza Horizon 5 will only continue to get better in time as Playground Games eventually start releasing DLCs that will only add so much more to a world that players will love. 10/10 – Reviewed by J, review found here.
Honourable Mention – Ratchet and Clank
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the perfect package. Its story along with the cast of characters is an entertaining, silly, witty and heart-warming good time. Our main characters have massive depth and I found them and their internal struggles more relatable than I could have imagined. Its musical score is one of the best we have heard in a long time and it sits perfectly alongside the quality voice acting of James Arnold Taylor (Ratchet) and Jennifer Hale (Rivet). Its visuals are the best ever seen on a console, they are a treat for your eyes and exactly what the newest generation need. For those saying, “I am going to wait, as there is no reason to get a PlayStation 5 yet”. Well, Insomniac have stood up and given any doubter their reason. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the best game of the newest generation and will be on top for a while yet. 10/10 – Reviewed by Pottsy, review found here.
Honourable Mention – Halo Infinite
Halo Infinite’s free multiplayer experience comes to gamers at a time where many have been looking for their next venture into the Halo universe and while it’s not the campaign that many are waiting for, there is a lot of Halo related fun to be had. The game brings some amazing and well designs maps and the new additions to the game fit right in like they’ve always been there. There are some tweaks that are required to make this game the best it can be, but as this game comes to players pre-launch in beta form, I have no doubt that improvements will come, and if the Master Chief Collection is anything to go by, these will continue for years to come. If you haven’t downloaded this one yet, then you really should give it a go. Now bring on the campaign. 9/10 – Review by Xbox Game Dad Matt, review found here.

Most Anticipated
This is OMG most anticipated Games of the Year.
Winner – Starfield
Microsoft and Bethesda’s upcoming Fallout/Skyrim in space RPG is the most anticipated game for us in 2022.
“Starfield is the first new universe in 25 years from Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. In this next generation role-playing game set amongst the stars, create any character you want and explore with unparalleled freedom as you embark on an epic journey to answer humanity’s greatest mystery.”
Honourable Mention – Forspoken
“Forspoken arrives Spring 2022 on PlayStation 5. Mysteriously transported from New York City, Frey Holland finds herself trapped in the beautiful and cruel land of Athia with a magical, sentient bracelet wrapped around her arm. Her new, cynical companion “Cuff” helps Frey navigate through the sprawling landscapes of Athia. In search of a way home, Frey will battle monstrous creatures, confront the powerful Tantas, and uncover secrets that awaken something much more from within.”
Honourable Mention – Suicide Squad
Worst Game of the Year
This is OMG worst Games of the Year.
Unfortunate Winner – eFootball 2022
eFootball was and still is an absolute mess. It was that bad, our football guru was too devastated to review it. The once king of football games as Pro Evolution Soccer, it has been dominated by Fifa in the last 2 generations and Konami recent title with its very slow gameplay, no modes and atrocious graphics makes eFootball 2022 our worst game of 2021.
Dishonourable Mention – Nerf Legends
Nerf Legends is a first-person shooter that fails to feel fun in any way, is littered with game-breaking bugs, a multiplayer mode that literally doesn’t work and sound design that could double as some sort of torture method. For the first time in my life, personally or professionally, I can not recommend this game to any player of any age. It is simply not fit for human consumption. 1/10 – Reviewed by DAYNE, review found here.
