The Week That Was!

Here at OMG we have all the news and announcements from the past week in one spot. There was some big news, PlayStation have shown of the specs for their PSVR 2 and boy are we impressed. Xbox has also announced the next game coming to Game Pass and that Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Extraction will be day one on Game Pass.  While we have no reviews this week, you can catch up with all. To finish off we have 8 0f this weeks newest trailers including Horizon Call of the Mountain, Uncharted movie scene, Pokemon Legends and lots more.  Join us for the week that was.

Major News and Announcements

Playstation VR2 and VR2 Sense controller

Today Sony announced the specifications for both the PlayStation VR2 and PlayStation VR2 Sense controller with their latest PlayStation Blog that is below.

With 4K Visuals, eye tracking, and much more this will be a defining VR experience in the years to come.

E3 2022 Cancels In-Person Event again for the third year.

“The ESA has cancelled its in-person event for E3 2022, according to a statement shared with IGN by the ESA. But, while they point to upcoming announcements, the future of the show this year and beyond remains unclear.”

Horizon Call of the Mountain

Along with the new PSVR2 announcement, Sony also revealed the first game in development for PSVR2 is Horizon Call of the Mountain by Guerrilla and Firesprite Games.

Cyberpunk 2077 Rumours

The latest Cyberpunk 2077 rumours that come from Reddit from 4Chan are below:

“Cyberpunk next-gen/patch 1.5 will be treated as a soft relaunch for the game. the game will be renamed Cyberpunk 2077: Samurai Edition

  • cdpr will do a big Livestream around February to reveal the patch, the cyberpunk anime, and the first expansion
  • New patch features: barbershops, a garage, improved AI, transmog system, a complete rebalancing of the loot system, new UI
  • The promised free DLC will be bundled in and includes 4 new weapons, new game plus, apartment customization, new gigs
  • Tons of small stuff like Judy and Panam sending you more text messages during the course of the game
  • The first expansion takes place in pacifica which is actually quite huge
  • You walk around and do quests in what is called the “combat zone”
  • The combat zone is being fought over by two new gangs: the Bozos (violent clown psychopaths with a sick sense of humour) and a gang called Slaughterhouse (violent psychopath fascists)
  • Walking around the combat zone feels very inspired by the game s.t.a.l.k.e.r.
  • Cyberpunk will get its own gwent like mini-game, it involves going to cyberspace and controlling and collecting monster which you can send to jrpg like battles, also has multiplayer
  • One of the monsters looks like the reaper, another one I saw looks like an oni
  • The cyberpunk anime called Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners is made by Studio Trigger with writing and story made by CDPR themselves. it looks absolutely insane. Beautiful 2D animation that reminds me of Akira.
  • Another expansion is in the early stages of planning but will only be released if the first expansion is a success”

These should definitely be taken with a grain of salt and for now, are definitely just rumour.

We are a massive fan of Guacamelee and are looking forward to getting into this one.

Review – WWE 2K22

For the first time since 2000, 2021 saw no release of a WWE title. Following a lacklustre and broken release with WWE 2K20 theinevitable next entry was delayed to completely rebuild the gameplay engine, implement a new control system and significantly improve the visuals. The extra time and polish has paid off with the impressive WWE 2K22. Arriving less than three weeks from WWE’s flagship event, WrestleMania, the timing couldn’t be better for the WWE Universe and its players to unleash chaos in the squared circle with a smoother, more satisfying experience.

Featuring a heavily cinematic Showcase mode that follows cover Superstar Rey Mysterio’s rise with twelve matches that proved pivotal to his legacy two decades into his career, there is the Universe mode which is essentially just a free-play mode but with a few new tweaks and three additional content heavy modes. The MyRISE mode allows players to create custom Superstars and take them through the NXT developmental system and all the way up to capturing the Championships on offer on the main roster, a card driven MyFACTION mode that lets players unlock cards and send their Faction into the history books and finally, the long awaited return of the GM mode in MyGM. MyGM gives players the power to book their own roster and compete against rival brands to drive theirs to the top.

WWE is back on consoles in a big way and with so many new features, mechanics and modes, WWE 2K22 certainly hits different.

Review – Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarök

Dawn of Ragnarök is the largest expansion to date for Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, kicking off the second year of new content. With a larger map to explore than offered in the Wrath of the Druids and Siege of Paris expansions that came before, Dawn of Ragnarök also introduces more meaningful new abilities and gear than the early pair of expansions.

Taking place in the mythological dream world that serves as the core skeletal structure of Valhalla’s lore, Eivor is transported once again into the role of Odin, referred to as Havi. Tasked with rescuing your son, Baldur, from the fire giants, Odin must forge an alliance with the dwarves of Svartalfheim to prepare for a battle of the ages against the mighty Surtr and prevent Ragnarök – the end of all worlds.

With access to abilities that embrace the firey abilities of the Muspel’s and icy strength of the Jotuns, the combat has evolved into its most mythologically inspired iteration, yet which is enjoyable, varied and fun to experiment with when using the six new abilities to solve puzzles as well. A fantastical setting rooted in Norse mythology, fun boss fights and an excellent new suite of abilities result in a familiar yet engaging expansion to Eivor’s own evolution as they follow in the footsteps of a god.

Review – Elden Ring

YOU DIED. These two words in Elden Ring, like the other titles from developer FromSoftware, are not a prediction, they are a spoiler.
