Boasted as a horror game in reverse, CARRION puts the player in the role of a crimson red monster with menacing tendrils in side-scrolling 2D glory. By putting the perspective of the monster front and centre, the player is not in fear or the prey for once, instead the enemy is terrified of YOU. This role reversal is fun, less stressful and interesting and engaging enough to not tire of playing as an overpowered monster that is all but unstoppable. Click here for our full review.

Evan’s Remain – PS4, Switch and Xbox One

If you love puzzles then this game is a must have.  At a price of $9.95 AUD this 3 to 5-hour game is a great purchase.  The story, which is funny, sincere, dark and emotional at times, builds until you reach the massive ending that will take the player by surprise as it did this reviewer. Fall Guys – PS4

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is a fun game that will have many laughing and stumbling their way to the finish line. Whether you play solo or with a group of your friends online you are sure to have some fun. The maps are fun, bright, full of colour and not every run will be the same, you can play a map 20 times and the result will be different. Progression towards the battle pass does not feel grindy as every game, no matter where you place you still earn some fame XP and kudos. Click here for our full review.

Fury Unleashed – PS4, Switch and Xbox One

Fury Unleashed is a wonderful piece of art and gameplay.  The sights and sounds create a fantastic world to run around and explore.  The phrenetic gameplay keeps the player on the edge of there seat while trying to keep long combo runs going for maximum ink values.  Each weapon is a different experience and all of the fights require a different strategy to complete. With the levels never being a known layout to the player it keeps the experience unique for each playthrough.  This is an excellent job by Awesome Games and this reviewer looks forward to more Fury Unleashed in the months to come, as I can’t get enough of it! Hades – Nintendo Switch

Hades is a highly addictive title that will have players constantly doing ‘just one more run’. The combat, story, weapon and Boon system are well done and to the point that the escape experiences are never the same twice. It makes time fly by with each run and to the point where two and three o’clock in the morning happened to me often. Hades has impressive different enemy and boss types, which keeps battles fresh. It requires great strategy and sometimes a bit of luck to make it to the far reaches of the final boss. The joy and reward of that first successful escape attempt is so satisfying and makes the 20 to 30 hours played getting there well worth it. Well-done Supergiant games on this masterpiece! Ori and Will of the Wisps – Xbox One and Series X|S, Switch

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the definition of a sequel that succeeds, taking a formula that worked and expanding it in a way that enhances the overall experience. The execution of the new gameplay mechanics is seamlessly integrated via simple tutorials that don’t restrict the accessibility. Raising the bar in a genre as popular and established as platforming is no small feat but it is one that Ori and the Will of the Wisps has masterfully accomplished. Click here for our full review.

Streets of Rage 4 hits the high notes in every single aspect at being faithful to franchise but it absolutely knocks it out of the park when adding new elements. As a long time BeatEm Up aficionado, I cannot name a single game in its genre that is this close to perfection.
