Best Horror

Over the month of January, the OMG crew will be releasing polls for our community to vote on their favourite console games of 2020. These games have been nominated, categorised and discussed by those behind the scenes here. We do acknowledge that everyone’s favourite 2020 games may not be on our lists, as unfortunately we are not able to play and review every game that comes to console. This is a bit of fun and chance for you to win prizes.

Many of these Games of the Year posts will come with a chance for you to win some loot such as Cyberpunk 2077, Fifa 21, a year of Xbox GamePass and more.

To win this loot is simple:-

  • Vote via the poll and comment at the bottom of this article with the game you voted for and with your first name and initial of surname. (This is to help with bonus entries)
  • You can get bonus entries by voting each day and liking our category posts on Facebook, Twitter and sharing them BUT you must vote.
  • That’s a total of 5 chances for each prize. Winners will be announced 7 days after the polls go live via the website and posts on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

We are giving away a code for Marvel’s Avengers, compatible with Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. This prize is only open to Australian and New Zealand residents.

To be in the running vote and comment below.

Amnesia: Rebirth – PS4

Maid of Sker

Maid of Sker is a solid experience that does not deliver anything ground breaking in a genre. The stealth mechanics can feel frustrating at times, to a point where I felt that there was just no escaping, even if standing still in a dark corner on the other side of the hallway with a lack of visual indicators. In saying that though, the game looks very good and the hotel definitely gives off the horror vibe, while the story is an interesting one to get into. Maid of Sker offers a safe mode for those looking for a less eerie play through. Click here for our full review.

Monstrum – PS4, Switch and Xbox One

Resident Evil 3 – PS4 and Xbox One

It is a pity that Resident Evil 3 remake has dropped the ball. While its visuals and sound design are near a perfect ten, this game is just too shallow. It is bewildering as to why a lot of the substance that made the RE2 remake so successful is not present. The game is shorter than the RE3: Nemesis original game released over 20 years ago, missing puzzles, enemy types and a real thrill. After the amazing opening introductory levels and first hour is up, the sense of excitement just falls away and all that is left is a very average and very slow action game. If RE2 was praised for its presentation, gameplay, and faithfulness to the original, RE3 can only be praised for one of those aspects and that is not good enough. Click here for our full review.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope – PS4 and Xbox One

Little Hope expands upon what Supermassive Games tried to do with Man of Medan and largely succeeds. The six to seven hour narrative allows for some deep thinking about what is happening and what may occur later. While secrets and quick time event play is still crucial to making the correct choices they have allowed for special traits for each character to be unlocked which are imperative at the end. Combine this with great storytelling and an excellent ending with twists and turns along the way and we have a fantastic second entry into the Dark Pictures Anthology.
