Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – PS4|5 and Xbox One, Series X|S

Ubisoft’s newest production, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, is an immersive open world experience about the Vikings of the 9th century A.D. The depth of Valhalla’s story along with an expansive set of side quests and events to complete creates a wonderful tapestry for players to dive into. For our full review click here.

Cyberpunk 2077 – PS5 and Xbox Series X|S*

Cyperpunk 2077 is the most ambitious game of its time. CD Projekt Red put their hearts and souls into this project, wanting to immerse players like they have never been immersed before. It is perfect in its story telling, being the main or sub plots, dialogue, character progression and creates a grand playpen in Night City. It does have its issues though with poor driving mechanics and more importantly those launch bugs on that list. Overall, if you are a player that is looking for an open-world roleplaying adventure that has a mature and thought-provoking story, with satisfying combat and player progression, you cannot do better than Cyberpunk 2077. Ghost of Tsushima – PS4

Overall Ghost of Tsushima is a masterstroke of art, gameplay and open world exploration. This is a game to be savoured like a fine wine aged to perfection. Do not rush through this, as there is so much to see on this island of Tsushima. The story is perfectly placed and toned throughout as the Samurai who becomes a hero of the island and like Jin, this game is a legend. Sucker Punch should be extremely proud of this PS4 exclusive. Hades – Nintendo Switch

Hades is a highly addictive title that will have players constantly doing ‘just one more run’. The combat, story, weapon and Boon system are well done and to the point that the escape experiences are never the same twice. It makes time fly by with each run and to the point where two and three o’clock in the morning happened to me often. Hades has impressive different enemy and boss types, which keeps battles fresh. It requires great strategy and sometimes a bit of luck to make it to the far reaches of the final boss. The joy and reward of that first successful escape attempt is so satisfying and makes the 20 to 30 hours played getting there well worth it. Well-done Supergiant games on this masterpiece! Immortals Fenyx Rising is an enjoyable game in a unique world that remains entertaining for hours on end. The combat is responsive, the in-game items are vast and the puzzles rewarding. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – PS4|5

Miles Morales is a bright, charismatic A-grade student, who is not only able to step into the shoes of Spider-Man but does it so well that Insomniac have reflected that into this stellar game. Miles and his support characters create a memorable story in a beautiful backdrop. The action and activities will keep players webbed to their screen until credits role, it is just a pity that its shorter run time will keep players wishing it had a longer narrative in Miles’ first independent outing as the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. Ori and Will of the Wisps – Xbox One and Series X|S, Switch

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the definition of a sequel that succeeds, taking a formula that worked and expanding it in a way that enhances the overall experience. The execution of the new gameplay mechanics is seamlessly integrated via simple tutorials that don’t restrict the accessibility. Raising the bar in a genre as popular and established as platforming is no small feat but it is one that Ori and the Will of the Wisps has masterfully accomplished. Click here for our full review.

The Last of Us Part 2 – PS4

The Last of Us: Part II is brutal, violent, confronting and at times just outright depressing. The world that has been established is in a league of its own, brought to life by characters and performances that are phenomenal, engaging and genuinely interesting. Such an emotionally driven, highly cinematic and interactive experience is a once in a generation feat to pull off but it is one that Naughty Dog have masterfully accomplished. Wasteland 3 – PS4 and Xbox One

Wasteland 3 will keep the player continually thinking but at the same time having a lot of fun. The deep storyline relies on secondary mission playthroughs and exploration, encountering new colourful characters along the way.
